Noticed you were from Chatanooga and just had to share this story. I used to travel quite a bit as a sales rep for the Alltel/Windstream yellow pages and one of my assignmments was Dalton, Georgia. I got a chance to visit Chatanooga and stopped at a music store just south of there to play around with the guitars. A gentleman there who was the owner enjoyed my playing and said it reminded him some of Hank Garland. I asked who he was and he began to tell me the entire history of Hank who played on many of Elvis recordings. He was really Nashville's first pioneer session guitarist. Gibson guitars named a guitar after him and another artist named Billie Byrd. The guitar is the Byrdland model named half after Byrd and the second half of Garland's name. This gentleman has one of the only existing models of the original Byrdland guitar with both of these artists signatures on it. It was quite something and very interesting bit of nostalgia. This gentleman said Hank got in a tragic car accident in the prime of his life that was deemed by the press to be suspicious and possible foul play involved. He was such a great guitarist that he often went to New York to play in the jazz clubs and the Nashville crowd didn't want him doing that. When Elvis would make a record they would ask for Hank and if h wasn't available, Elvis manager's would say "we'll wait for Hank".
Hi Helen, Thank you so much for the compliments on my voice and my recordings. It is appreciated. Stop by anytime. Here is my website www.RichieSanta.com
Wow that was a fast response I know you are online right now but didn't tink I'd get one that fast. So what's your favorite era and song from The King? As you can see from my channel's profile I'm in love with the magnificent lion baby of the sexy 70's blush lol. I of course respect all the periods of EP's life span but the Vegas beast years have always had a special place in my heart. I like "Moody Blue " as a fun song to dance too, and "You're Loves Been a Long Time Coming," as a romantic song. Acctauly my all time favorite ETA Mr. Shawn Klush turned me onto an extremely romantic song called, "Mine," I heard from a CD of his I bought at his show. I also have a special affinity for EP gospels and "Amazing Grace'" helped me fall asleep while the pain meds where kicking in after my two bouts of cancer last year.
Peace and l e and God bless
Hugs, TCB, and Long live The King And Heavanly Father baby!!!!!!!!!
